Machine Shop Supervisor
Position Summary: Coordinates and controls production activities, material flow and inventory to achieve cost and quality targets and production schedules. Closely monitors day-to-day specific line production.
Experience/Education/Training Required: Ideal person has started his career as a hands on machinist on manual machine tools and went into CNC can do programming with Cad/Cam or mastercam G Codes as well. Learned CNC and does Set-ups of Machine Centers lathes and milling and can instruct machine operators and trouble shoot all types of problems. An engineering degree in manufacturing or related a big plus but will consider number of years in machining. The candidate must have a proven supervisor background of machinists and operators for at least 5 years or more as a proven supervisor of at least 20 machinists. Ideal candidate will be a professional who takes pride in his supervisory abilities and has a successful track record of supervisory and manufacturing accomplishments and have worked in a manufacturing environment for at least 7 years. Familiarity with ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing, and 5s is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Operations: Plans, organizes and delegates work assignments in order to best utilize man-hours, skills, and equipment. Production: Anticipate production problems and devise and implement procedures to offset lost production and schedule interruptions. Plant Safety: Inspects machines and equipment. Polices the use of safety equipment, departmental housekeeping and maintains a continual alert for hazardous conditions. Training: Coordinates and participates in a variety of training programs for employees. Employee Safety: Proactively supervise safety, including accident investigation and follow-up, departmental inspections, employee training, and safety rule enforcement. Management: Involved in the recruitment, training, goal-setting and performance management of production staff. Other responsibilities as assigned or required.
