Our client in NW Houston is seeking an electrical technician who has strong experience in off-shore wiring of systems with knowledge of all applicable regulatory requirements. Certifications in hydraulics and/or electrical installation for hazardous areas (NEMA, ATEX, IEC Ex) are all preferred.

The Electrician reports directly to the Production Manager for project related tasking and labor hours. The electrician researches, develops installation and wiring schemes, redlines engineering electrical drawings, and tests electrical components, equipment, and systems.

Specific responsibilities and authorities may include: • Support applications company-wide. • Develop and maintain calculation packages for projects, when so tasked. • Manage the electrical integration portion of projects. • Integrate electrical components of hydraulic and structural subassemblies. • Design and evaluate electrical/electronic panels. • Supervise and evaluate own or 3rd party electrical/electronic panel fabrication and testing. • Interface with regulatory bodies, as required. • Produce or review regulatory body drawing packages. • Travel for training, meetings, and startup/commissioning of projects.

Support and participate in the organization’s continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 and understand the implications of not complying with the quality management system.

REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION AND TRAINING • Associates degree in the Electrical Trades. • 5 years of National Joint Apprenticeship Training Program and licensed. • Experience as described below may be accepted in lieu of education.

EXPERIENCE • One (1) to five (5) years of experience with one or more of the following:

  • Hydraulic System Controls.
  • Integration of Marine, oilfield, and industrial systems.
  • Electrical construction (Commercial Contractor)
  • Education as described above may be accepted in lieu of experience.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment a plus.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Thorough underst anding of the National Electric Code. • Strong electrical design and debugging skills. • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word is required for data analysis and reporting. • Must be a good communicator, enjoy a fast-paced environment, and have a strong interest in analog circuit design and analysis. Must enjoy hands-on type electronic circuit work. • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations where limited standardization exists. • In-depth knowledge of industrial electrical wiring. • Must have knowledge of industrial electric standards. • Must have understanding electric/electronic schematics. • Must have excellent organizational skills.
